Hailing from Biloxi, Miss., Lynn Massey doesn’t have to look far when asked who her hero is.

“My mother,” she says, simply. “She has worked since she was six years old, picking cotton. She raised five children and never stops going, even though she is in her late 70s.”

Lynn’s mother’s work ethic was clearly instilled in her daughter. Lynn has worked in the legal field in various capacities since the mid-80’s, mastering such skills as drafting discovery responses; preparing dictations; preparing cases for settlement, mediation or trial; and case analysis.

A graduate of Cornell University, Lynn was a Human Development and Family Studies major in college. After college, she was a counselor for battered women. Family law, she notes, requires compassion, strong analytical abilities, and creativity.

“Paralegals have a saying: you either love family law or you hate it – there is no in-between,” Lynn says. "I love it."

Victories in court are not just won by lawyers. Lynn recalls in the space of one year, her personal involvement in helping win a motion challenging the validity of a prenuptial agreement and then in a different case, helping win a motion enforcing a prenuptial agreement.

Having worked at major firms in the Memphis area over the past decade, Lynn says Crone & Mason stands apart.
